Punjab: Mittar Pyare Nu by Gurdas Maan

Mittar Pyare Nu from Gurdas Maan saab’s album Punjab show a man’s journey from partition hit Punjab of 1947 to Communal riot hit New Delhi of 1984.

Mittar Pyaare Nu is a beautiful SHABD by Guru Gobind Singh ji recited in the Machhivara forest when the master was separated from his family, facing atrocities all around him, Guru Sahib ji in this shabd yearns for remembrance of Waheguru despite of the extreme hardships and tough times. Gurdas Maan says “he feels blessed that he got an opportunity to sing this beautiful shabd by our 10th Guru and lend his voice to it”.

Mittar Pyare Nu

When moving from Pakistan to India in 1947 the video shows a young Gurdas Maan with his son in tow to perform the last rites of his own mother. Again during riots of New Delhi in 1984, an older Gurdas Maan is seen pushing a van with his granddaughter in the driver seat looking to perform last rites of his own son, the same one which he was pulling along when moving from Pakistan to India in 1947.

The granddaughter in Mittar Pyare Nu grows up to be (Sargun Mehta) India’s Ambassador to UN Peace Conference 2017 where she wants the audience to get the message,

Why should be only Rest In Peace, Why cant we Live In Peace
